On June 16, 2022, the Dean's Award Celebration Dinner was held at the Al Marsa Restaurant to celebrate the Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering Program (ERPE) Awardees.

MERGE Group is pleased to welcome Mohamed Ezzat as KAUST visiting student for one week. Mohamed Ezzat is a 4th-year Ph.D. candidate in Geothermal Energy and Geofluids Group at ETH Zurich. His Ph.D. investigates the physics underlining the Plasma-Pulse Geo-Drilling technology using numerical modeling and lab experiments under ambient and deep wellbore conditions.

From May 31st to June 2nd, some students, researchers, and professor participated in the 14th International Conference on Porous Media (InterPore 2022), held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

On Thursday (May 12th) Emeritus Professor Mark Zoback from Stanford University visited KAUST to interact with ANPERC’s students, postdocs, research scientists and faculty.

Evaluation and demonstration of advanced geothermal energy utilization – KAUST research project – in support of KSA's Ministry of Energy to bringing geothermal energy as a renewable energy source to Saudi Arabia.

Led by research scientist Alex Petrovic, a multidisciplinary team of seven scientists from different KAUST research centers (ANPERC, RSRC) and divisions (PSE, BESE) kicked off the first research cruise as part of the signed MOU between KAUST and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) this February.

The MetaRock Laboratories recently visited ANPERC and provided comprehensive training on RCA and SCAL equipment.

From 21 to 23 February, ANPERC and CCRC Centers represented KAUST at IPTC 2022. The three days conference focused on the energy of the future.

In 2019, the Arabian Plate Geology ( APG ) initiated a research project to evaluate the potential for CO2 mineralization in basaltic rocks of Saudi Arabia, funded by Aramco’s Environmental Protection Department.
