Petex has kindly granted 10 educational licences of the MOVE suite, which equates to an equivalent donation of £ 2.433.833,17 of software to the Ali I. Al-Naimi Petroleum Engineering Research Center, KAUST .

On December 1st, 2022, ANPERC invited all department members and their families to celebrate the end of another year.

The All ANPERC monthly meeting took place on November 27, 2022. During the meeting, ANPERC hosted a farewell party for the Associate Center Director, Professor Juan Carlos Santamarina and the Center Manager, Aeisha Salem, who are leaving the department.

On the 25th of November, KAUST promoted the KAUST Community Triathlon, and ANPERC was present with Professors, Post-docs, Ph.D. and Master's students representing the center.

Ph.D. student, Amer Alanazi received the best student paper award at IGS-2022 for his paper titled: “Analysis of capillary sealing efficiency of caprock for H2 and CO2 geological storage.”

Muhammad Usman, a Ph.D. student of Prof. Volker Vahrenkamp is currently visiting RWTH Aachen university as a sandwich Ph.D. student.

Congratulations to our SEG EVOLVE team from KAUST, who presented their work during the IMAGE 2022 annual conference in Houston, TX.

KAUST SEG Student Chapter team composed of Gaurav Siddharth Gairola (Ph.D. in ERPE) and Mustafa Alfarhan (Ph.D. in ErSE) recently won first place at the SEG-DGS Middle East Challenge Bowl Competition.

On the 29th of September, Dr. Hassan M. El-Houjeiri, Head of Energy Traceability Technology, Saudi Aramco presented a seminar entitled: “The power of science in shaping climate policy and investment decisions” to all ANPERC members.

In September KAUST Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA), student chapter is launched.

ANPERC participated in AAPG Geoscience Technology Workshop in Bahrain entitled “SOURCE ROCKS OF THE MIDDLE EAST: A WORLD CLASS RESOURCE FOR UNCONVENTIONAL?” held from 24th - 28th of Sep, 2022.

ANPERC celebrated the 92nd Anniversary of Saudi Arabia National Day on September 23rd, 2022.

Otavio Jose Dezem Bertozzi Junior, a Ph.D. candidate of MERGE Group, had an honor to attend the 5th International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST Conference 2022), held on 5-7 of September in Eindhoven.

On September 15th, the first All ANPERC Meeting took place after the beginning of the academic year. It was a great time to meet and welcome all new students and members.

On the 12th - 18th of September 2022, Indah Putri participated in Camp 2030, New York, USA. Indah Putri is a Ph.D. candidate from the Carbonate Reservoir Studies Group, working with Professor Volker Vahrenkamp.

On September 11, 2022, Prof. Abbas Firoozabadi presented the seminar entitled: "Increase of Fluid-Fluid Interfacial Elasticity and CO2 Viscosification in Hydrocarbon Energy Production and the Stewardship of the Enviroment”.

On September 8, 2022, Professor Alexandros Danilidis presented an interesting seminar entitled: "Direct-use Geothermal Energy: Uncertainty Quantification for the Energy Transition"

ANPERC’s Ph.D. student, Indah Putri (Volker Vahrenkamp group), was selected to participate in the 2022 SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium (SLS).

From August 21st to 25th, a group of young Saudi students from different universities around KSA participated in a student debate on the future of energy organized by the Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC).

From August 08th to 12th, 2022, Professors Hussein Hoteit, Abdulkader Afifi, and J. Carlos Santamarina conducted a field trip to Iceland to visit the Carbfix project.
