Research Interests

I am interested in microbial processes in the sediment column. Especially the influence in micritic modification and subsequent diagenesis of carbonate sediments. The metabolic pathways, their respective intensities, their dependence on certain nutrients as well as other environmental factors, are key to understand modern and ancient analogue carbonate systems.
