28 February, 2023
A delegation from the Ali I. Al-Naimi Petroleum Engineering Research Center (ANPERC) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) participated in the recently concluded Middle East Oil, Gas and Geoscience Show (MEOS GEO) held in Exhibition World, Bahrain, from 19-21 February 2023.
ANPERC/ KAUST students, scientists, research specialists and faculty highlighted research projects in Energy, Geoscience, Climate Change and Sustainability geared towards attaining net-zero emissions in line with the aspirations of the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030.
MEOS GEO, a merger of the Middle East Oil & Gas Show (MEOS) and the Middle East Geosciences Conference & Exhibition (GEO), is described as the "premier upstream oil and gas and petroleum geosciences event in the region." The show presented a wonderful opportunity for ANPERC scientists to step away from the labs to meet and share their research with experts, industry leaders, and academia from the Middle East and beyond.
Over 500 conference attendees visited the ANPERC/KAUST booth, core sample display, eposter sessions, and oral presentations. The audience learned more about ANPERC’s Vision and mission, watched a virtual Geological field trip into the fascinating geological formations of Saudi Arabia, and observed and touched beautiful rock samples from different geologic eras with eye-catching textures and structures. Attendees also received ANPERC branded gifts as well as the latest edition of the ANPERC magazine.
"MEOS GEO 2023 was an exceptional experience for me. The level of expertise and knowledge of the presenters are excellent, and I believe the insights I have gained from this conference will be helpful for my research. In addition, it was also a good opportunity to meet and build connections with people from the industry and academia" said Indah Putri, Ph.D. Student - Vahrenkamp Group
We would like to thank everyone who visited our booth and applaud all the ANPERC students, staff, and faculty who collaborated to make it an outstanding event. Below are some photos from the three-day conference:
