In September this year, founding Center Director, Professor Tadeusz W. Patzek was awarded the prestigious 2020 EAGE Desiderius Erasmus Award. The Award was presented to Prof. Patzek by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) for his outstanding and lasting achievements in the field of resource exploration and development.

The EAGE Awards Committee highlighted his distinguished “research into the fundamentals of multiphase flow in porous media with application to improved oil recovery, his predictions of productivity from shale gas formations, and his life-cycle analysis of biofuels.” The Committee also lauded Prof. Patzek as: “an inspiring mentor and educator whose fierce intellectualism and unflinching pursuit of truth has won widespread admiration.”
