ANPERC recently participated in EAGE Annual 2019 in London, one of the most important geoengineering conferences in the world. The ANPERC booth fielded questions from prospective students and informed them of KAUST's unique research opportunities, while two ANPERC scientists presented papers at the conference. Here are Dr. Thomas Finkbeiner's highlights from the conference:

Two panels discussed "Delivering Low Carbon Energy to the World," which featured prominent panelists from companies like Equinor, BP, OMV, and organizations such as the IEA.

Two sessions on geothermal energy toward the end of the conference. The high attendance at both of these sessions suggests a great deal of interest in this alternative form of energy. On a related note, keep an eye on anperc.kaust.edu.sa and ANPERC's news channels for more information about the upcoming research conference on geothermal energy potential in Saudi Arabia.

Many other technical sessions focused on geophysics, rock physics, unconventional reservoirs, fault seal and trapping mechanisms, microseismic, and a variety of other topics. EAGE's website estimated an expected attendance in excess of seven thousand people.

The IFP School of Rueil-Malmaison, France, won the Laurie Dake Challenge, for which Dr. Finkbeiner was a judge. Other teams from Norway, Mexico, and Canada also made a strong effort.
