This March ANPERC welcomed Postdoctoral Fellow Pankaj Khanna. Pankaj got his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Delhi, India. He then moved to Rice University in Houston, Texas, United States where he received his Ph.D. in Geology in Dec 2017. At KAUST Pankaj joined the growing Carbonate Reservoirs Geology group of Professor Volker Vahrenkamp. Asked about his research Khanna explains "My research at ANPERC will be mostly on digitization of Jurassic and Cretaceous Arabian carbonate outcrops utilizing drone photogrammetry, developing workflows to map depositional and structural heterogeneities at a range of scales, and import the information mapped into subsurface reservoir models to provide details of reservoir heterogeneity at scales not available from subsurface datasets alone." So far, Kaust has been a great experience for Khanna and he has already joined his research group on a field trip to Oman. Khanna: "The first impressions I had of KAUST is that, it is a place with endless possibilities to do state of the art research. The community is a great mix of people and background from all over the world. Facilities including research, housing, and recreation are world class. ANPERC is one of the well-organized departments I will have the pleasure to work at. The professors, staff, and students are all great and super helpful! All the credit goes to the administrative team of the department and the University, for my move to be as smooth as it could have been possible."

Welcome to ANPERC and we are looking forward to work with you!
