MS student Ahmad Alabdulghani presented a thesis defense on October 16: "An Experimental and Numerical Study to Investigate the Impact of Capillarity on Fluid Flow in Heterogeneous Porous Media." Using an experimental rig of his own design, Alabdulghani studies the flow of fluids such as water and oil through heterogeneous media that simulates the fracture networks within reservoirs. He has been working closely with Professor Hussein Hoteit since coming to KAUST from Aramco in 2017. Read more about his journey to KAUST here.
