This week the EGEL group of Professor Santamarina welcomed Professor Kenichi Soga. Professor Soga is Professor in Geosystems at the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining Berkeley in 2016 he was Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Professor Soga comes from Japan where he obtained his Bachelor and Master degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Kyoto. At KAUST, Professor Soga gave a seminar titled "Large-deformation analysis of landslide mass movements" and visited the KAUST campus to strengthen the ties between the two universities and talk about various research projects. Professor Soga: "What strikes me here at KAUST is that all people seem to be smiling every day. Overall this is a very good place." Thank you Professor Soga for visiting KAUST.
