ANPERC special workshop: Drilling Monitoring and Analysis by Professor Gerhard Thonhauser, Montan University, Austria

Professor Gerhard Thonhauser of Montan University in Austria will give a special workshop about Drilling Monitoring and Analysis.

Location: Bld. 5, Level 5, room 5209

Workshop: Drilling Monitoring and Analysis

This workshop provides a motivation to perform drilling performance monitoring as a basis for performance optimization. As such it establishes the value of available drilling data based on drilling operations breakdown and evaluates drilling performance starting from morning reports leading to advanced monitoring practices utilizing rig sensor data and automated operations recognition. In particular the latter is important to mitigate invisible lost time and has the capacity to greatly improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Savings Potential. These important aspects then lead to developing a performance culture in a drilling organization whereby a "new way of working" is established that manages barriers and masters change effectively and efficiently. This approach has the great potential to minimize or even entirely avoid lost or non-productive time on the rig through structuring an approach to reducing lost time and develop and utilize technology that helps to support early problem detection thereby improving productive time.
