Effect of drilling parameters and loading rate on wellbore instability
The Rock & Geomechanics research group (RockGem) at KAUST, Saudi Arabia, is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to conduct research in an industry funded project that provides enhanced understanding for predicting and mitigating wellbore instabilities during well construction – in particular the source of drill string vibration. The proposed research will analyze this complex dynamic interaction between drill-string and borehole and its impact on wellbore stability. The proposed work will require knowledge and experience in finite element modeling (e.g., COMSOL, ABAQUS etc.) as well as analytical skills (e.g., MATLAB) based on specific project requirements. Thus, integrating multiphysics-based modeling and simulation with practical application are a must for this project.
Living and working conditions at KAUST are exceptional. Our campus is a "live and work" community in a beautiful and safe setting on the Red Sea. It is home to over 7000 multinational highly diverse professionals, students, academics and their families. From an academic perspective, KAUST has unrivaled research facilities, world renowned academics, and already has the fastest growing citation record in the world.
We can confidently say that the KAUST experience is a truly unique career opportunity for brilliant postdoctoral fellows who share the dream to make a difference in our research field and in the world.
