Dr. Peter Birkle is Geological Consultant at the EXPEC Advanced Research Center of Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. As leader of the Hydrotracks team, he is focused on the development of inorganic techniques to predict the type, provenance and hydraulic dynamics of deep reservoir fluids. He received his PhD (1998) in geochemistry and hydrogeology from Freiberg University of Technology and Mining Academy, Germany, and worked in the geothermal and petroleum industry in Latin America and the Middle East for over 20 years. He received the National Science Award 2004 from the Mexican Presidency and Mexican Academy of Sciences, and the CEO Excellence Award from Saudi Aramco in 2017. He authored and coauthored over 100 technical papers in international scientific journals and conferences, coauthored 3 books and 12 book chapters on reservoir fluids in geothermal and petroleum reservoirs.
