Biography

Dr. Khalid Bankher has earned a Ph.D. in Engineering and Environmental Geology (2008) and currently working as a technical adviser in the Applied Geology Division, Saudi Geological Survey. He has worked with the U.S. Geological Survey for ten years in the field of evaluation and mitigation of natural hazards in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since 1992, he has been involved in research related to geothermal energy at various sites in the Kingdom. His expertise led him to conduct research in Al Madinah and Khayber areas, where he has mapped and monitor the geothermal anomalies. Presently, he is a leader of the SGS Initiative team related to the exploration and evaluation of geothermal energy resources in the Kingdom. His role as a leader and principal investigator is to acquire information and explore geothermal energy resources to achieve one of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and to augment and consolidate the contribution of renewable energy sources to the energy mix.
