Deep Sea Mining in Norwegian waters could become a reality soon when the Government of Norway next year will decide if exploration licenses should be given to the Norwegian Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ). A number of companies in Norway and elsewhere are focusing their efforts to develop technology aimed at the exploration and extraction of minerals from polymetallic nodules, polymetallic crust and Seabed Massive Sulphides (SMS). Resources from Deep Sea Mining could be and important supplement to the huge demand for critical minerals needed for the energy transition.
