Shehab Ahmed (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt, in 1999, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA, in 2000 and 2007, respectively. He was with Schlumberger Technology Corporation, Houston, TX, USA, from 2001 to 2007, developing downhole mechatronic systems for oilfield service products. He was with Texas A&M University at Qatar, from 2007 to 2018.
He is currently a Professor of the Mechatronics and Energy Systems Research, PSE Division, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia.
Professor Ahmed's research interests span the broad areas of power conversion and mechatronic systems. His research aims to merge electronics/mechanics/computing/control disciplines intelligently to develop novel devices and software that serve future smart grids and intelligent oil fields.
